Dancer, choreographer, and director Otis Sallid founded The Conservatory in 1999 to meet the needs of young people interested in the arts, giving them the opportunity to acquire performing arts instruction and professional training.

The Conservatory offers classes in ballet, modern dance, African dance, tap, and hip-hop, as well as acting classes that include on-camera commercial acting, improvisation, theater games, character development with monologues, and scene study. All instructors have danced and performed professionally. In addition to weekly classes, The Conservatory offers master classes, private lessons, and mentorship classes around the Los Angeles area.
