about The Crayola Factory:

Here's a spot where waxy build-up is truly appreciated. While The Crayola Factory, winner of our 2009 Parents' Picks Award for Best Tourist Spot in Philadelphia, is a bit of a drive from Philadelphia, it's a very cool place, for little ones in particular, and well worth the trip.

The entrance leads you directly to the factory section. This isn't the real factory, mind you, but this section gives kids a great concept of how the real factory spits out billions of crayons, markers, and more. And mirrors make it easy for even the littlest ones to see what's going on.

At The Crayola Factory, kids can use markers on a curvy wall of glass (and practice writing backwards, so kids on the other side can read what they're writing!), dance to music and watch their movements projected, mold in the sculpture section, and more. Events and activities change frequently, so no two visits are likely to be alike.

Daily admission is on a first come, first served basis. Individuals can make reservations no later than two business days prior. The reservation office is open Monday through Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm EST.

If coloring is your child's first love, you might consider throwing a party at the The Crayola Factory. Birthday packages include private use of a party room for one hour, a t-shirt for the birthday child, Crayola product coloring supplies on the tables, and a Party Pack that includes plates, cups, napkins, utensils, and party placemats for up to 40 guests. Birthday buckets filled with Crayola art supplies are available for an additional fee. Dates and Times are limited, so call early to reserve your party! Call 610.515.8000 (press 2) for scheduling and information.

On Saturday mornings, The Crayola Factory offers Art of Childhood Art Classes taught by local artists for children ages six through 13 and ages 13 and up. Six one-and-a-half hour classes - with themes such as Exploring Watercolors or Exploring Scrapbooking - are $145. For more information about classes, call 610.515.8000 or visit the website.
