The Discovery Museums are two separate but complementary museums filled with exciting, interactive exhibits for children of all ages that invite exploration and discovery.

The Children's Discovery Museum is a 100-year-old Victorian house with rooms, corridors, and closets creatively transformed into hands-on exhibit areas especially for toddlers and pre-school children (ages one to six) and their families. Kids will love the Train Room, the Chain Reaction Room, the Ocean Space and the Rainbow Room. They can raise the anchor of the Discovery Ship, and splash and playfully experiment in the Water Discovery Room. In the Safari Room, they can climb in a thatched roof hut, dress as an elephant and trip trop across a jungle bridge! A special Infant Corner is away from the bustling movement of busy children at play.

The Science Discovery Museum is a creative and challenging interactive experience designed especially for school-aged children (ages six and older). Kids will want to begin their visit outside with the large parabolic whisper dishes and a variety of sound and music exhibits. At the Inventor's Workshop, children can put together their own creations and inventions with recycled materials and try their hand at the woodworking table. From the Light and Color Room to the Science Circus to the Math Room to the Sound and Communications Area, there are plenty of opportunities for hands-on experimenting with the basic sciences and math.

Museum hours are as follows:
Children's Discovery building: Tue-Sun 9am-4:30pm. Science Discovery building: Tue-Fri 1pm-4:30pm, Sat-Sun 10am-4:30pm. During vacation weeks and on holidays, both buildings are open 9am-4:30pm every day (even Mondays)

Consider hosting your child's birthday party at the Museum. The package includes 1 1/2 hour Museum visit, 45-minute use of the Birthday Party room, 10% discount on advance purchase of goody bag items, and a Museum pin for attendees. Parties occur during the Museums' public hours and are scheduled based on the availability of the space. (There is more flexibility with weekday party times.) A Museum staff member is on-site to help with set-up and transitions. The Birthday Party package costs $185 (10% discount for Museum members) and includes 18 people (children and adults).
