Founded in 1976, the Ensemble has grown into the country's largest African-American professional theatre company. The company produces dramatic, comedic, and musical works by local and national artists, housed in a beautiful facility with a glass-enclosed lobby and three stages.
The Ensemble also offers the Young Performers Program for children ages seven to 17, combining arts education, creative dramatics, and performance, allowing students to experience the arts through the richness of African-American creative expression. At the end of each four-week session during the summer (and one-week session during spring break), students participate in a live performance, either on stage or behind the scenes.
