When life stresses overwhelm parents, the The Family Support Center is there to help protect children, prevent child abuse, and strengthen families. The licensed and trained clinical staff is made up of social workers and other professional service providers. Anyone interested in counseling can call the nearest location and speak with a clinician. Fees are charged on a sliding scale, taking income and family size into consideration. Many insurances and Medicaid are accepted. The Crisis Nursery provides a safe and loving environment for kids, and dignity, emergency childcare, and referrals for parents at the end of their ropes. Services are provided in a compassionate, non-shaming, homelike atmosphere 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Children under the age of 12 can stay in a crisis nursery for up to 72 hours each time they are admitted. To access a crisis nursery, parents must first call the center and speak to a crisis nursery staff person to determine if usage is appropriate. No fees are charged for nursery use. The organization has numerous volunteer opportunities, and welcomes donations of cash, food, toys, clothing, and supplies.
