We took our almost two year old son here for his first haircut and were very pleased. Our stylist, Ms. Lynn, was very patient and attentive, and it really only took a few minutes. We also got a certificate with a lock of hair and a picture of his new haircut! In my opinion, it is a must for a first haircut. The only thing is that it is a bit pricey... I chose this particular website to write my review because in my research I came across a scathing review by another parent and I found it to be unfair. Coming down to the level of insulting the town in which the business is located seems pretty low. Also, it is clearly stated that appointments are recommended, so knowing that two year olds are impatient, and that you were driving WAY out of your way to come to this establishment, it seems that you would have the common sense to make one.

My daughter is Two (just turned) as well and I thought the experience was great! This was her very first Haircut ever! The thought of just walking into an Adult Salon with her made me nervous. She got to pick out an Elmo DVD and she watched that the entire time and didn't even seem to notice she was getting a haircut! (no crying!) We did have an Appt. but they tell you to get one. Most places operate on Appt.'s anyways and when you don't have one you'll wait. The cut looked very nice and my husband didn't even know we were going and he noticed! She got a Certificate for $1.50. with her Picture and a Locket of Hair to remember her First Haircut. F.Y.I. "Far out" is relative to where you live. I live in Maryland Heights and I wish there was one closer but I felt it was worth the drive and not like we'll be going there all the time. I'd recommend this place to any Parent looking for a good environment for a Small Child's Haircut. I walked out Happy and my Daughter was Happy and to me that's worth an extra $5.

I went to Hairy Elephant because the only closer option, Cool Cuts 4 Kids closed. It was way the heck out in Ballwin, Baldwin, whatever, too far away. (St. LOUIS BEST?) , come on! I get there, my daughter is in a reasonable mood, something I don't pretend to be able to anticipate. They only take reservations. They may tell you you can wait and they'll fit you in. But, I saw three employees standing around while they were supposed to "fit " my daughter in. FORGET IT. NOT WORTH IT. SERIOUSLY MANI/PEDI FOR 50 DOLLARS? THERE ARE KIDS IN THE CITY WHO DON'T HAVE TEXTBOOKS. FIGURE OUT YOUR PRIORITIES! I HAD MONEY TO SPEND IN YOUR STORE AND YOU DIDN'T RECOGNIZE IT. Don't go here, it's not worth it. The hair wasn't even great. I thought I couldn't cut my daughter's hair. I could do what they did!!! YOU CAN TOO.
