in Boston, MAabout The Haymarket:
This is not your everyday farmer's market. The Haymarket, located behind Faneuil Hall Marketplace, is in a league all its own. This open-air produce market has operated in this very spot for over 200 hundred years. Shoppers will find dozens of vendors pedaling fruits and veggies, meat, poultry, and cheese.
But, shoppers beware. The idea may be charming; the reality is another story. Let's just say that the vendors aren't too concerned with presentation. Carts of produce stand everywhere and so many people crowd the area that it's difficult to maneuver your way around. Definitely not where you want to be if you're pushing a stroller.
The big draw of the Haymarket is the good prices. Again, don't be fooled. While we've had some successes here, we've found that overall, the quality has been disappointing. This may be due to the fact that vendors choose what is bagged, not you.
We'll probably be driven out of Boston for dishing some dirt here. As with a lot of things, it does not live up to the hype.
