Part gourmet restaurant, part romantic getaway, part walk in the woods, and all organic, The Inn of the Seventh Ray is a dining experience not to be missed.
The majority of seating is outdoors, though there is some space inside in case of rain. The tables are set on small patios winding around the tree-covered hillside beside a babbling brook. Not only is the setting relaxing for adults, but kids love hunting for frogs and tadpoles and skipping stones in the stream while waiting for lunch. Early dinner can yield sightings of deer, coyotes, and other wildlife wandering through, too.
The food is a creative combination of organic foods, including many vegetarian options, all served by peaceful, new-age wait staff who really know food and wine. Weekend brunches feature a buffet well worth the drive to Topanga. While there is not a specific children's menu, the servers always have off-menu recommendations for kids.
Desserts are yummy and unusual, but be warned: there is no chocolate at the Seventh Ray!
