about The Kreeger Museum:

The Kreeger Museum is a private, non-profit art museum located in the former residence of David and Carmen Kreeger. Designed by renowned architect Philip Johnson, it showcases Kreeger's permanent collection of 19th and 20th century paintings and sculptures. Highlights of the collection include works by Monet, van Gogh, Picasso, Renoir, Cezanne, Chagall, Rodin, Miro, Moore, Kandinsky and Washington artists Gene Davis, Sam Gilliam, William Christenberry, and Kendall Buster as well as examples of traditional African and Asian Art.

During most of the year docent-guided tours are offered during the week and during Saturday afternoon Open Hours. Reservations are required for regular guided tours, but not for the Saturday afternoon hours. For reservations, call 202.338.3552 or email the museum with name, phone number, number in your party, and the desired date and time of visit. Children 12 and over are welcome to attend the tours.

For younger children, try the Saturday Open Hours, Saturday workshops (for children ages 8-12), or Storytime at the Kreeger (every second Thursday and third Tuesday of the month, for children ages three to five). Special storytimes can also be reserved each month for preschools, play and day care groups.

tips:

Backpacks must be checked and parts of the museum are not stroller/wheelchair accessible - and no elevators - so plan accordingly.
