The Little Gym offers non-competitive, age-appropriate movement, gymnastics, dance, karate, and sports instruction for kids at all levels of experience.
A room painted with brightly colored murals, filled with gymnastics equipment of all sorts, offers lots to do and plenty of room to learn and play. Instructors here are friendly and professional, and work at knowing children by name and helping them grow at their own pace.
Classes for younger children - the Bugs, Birds, Beasts, and Superbeasts - follow a structured pattern every week, so kids know what to expect. The instructor leads songs and fun group activities and teaches USA Gymnastics approved skills, and kids have time for free play and ball play. Although children are encouraged to start learning to follow classroom instruction, wandering about is not frowned on. Every class ends with bubbles and a jingle-bell goodbye song. Class sessions are offered in semesters, check the website for current offerings. Older children - the Funny Bugs, Giggle Worms, and Good Friends - learn tumbling and apparatus skills, while gradeschoolers build on those skills in a non-competitive environment. Advanced gymnastics classes, by invitation, are also available for kids ages three-12. Children four months to three years attend with a caregiver, while kids over three usually attend on their own.
A sports skills class teaches kids ages three-12 the basics in soccer, baseball, basketball, and football, and other sports, in combination with gymnastics.
Dance classes are a unique combination of ballet, tap, creative movement, and gymnastics for children ages 3 to 12 years. Emphasis is placed on development and refinement of skills and incorporates 30 minutes each of dance and gymnastics.
Birthday parties: A 90-minute party, led by trained staff, includes gymnastics, games, music, set-up/clean-up, paper goods, drinks, and a T-shirt for the birthday child. Parties are typically scheduled for Saturdays and Sundays.
