The Music School was founded in 1998 by two people with one goal: Develop a music community in Utah that serves all ages and ability levels. Anyone with a passion for music is welcome to study at The Music School, and when the school says it is for all ages, it really means it - students range in age from eight months to 80 years old. Some students come to the school to further their dreams of a career in music, while others come for the pure enjoyment. The curriculum covers classical, rock, jazz, and world music. For the very young, the school offers a Kindermusik program. Older students take part in programs that cover all elements of music education - private instruction, masterclasses, recitals, recording, and performing and touring opportunities. The Music School offers conservatories to help students develop talents and refine skills. The Conservatory ensemble options include the Synergy Flute Choir (grades 8-12), the Wasatch Clarinet Choir (grades 8-12), Utah Imperial Brass (grades 9-12), the Timpanogos Horn Choir (grades 8-12), Steel Bands (grade 4-adult), the Urban Percussion Ensemble (grades 6-9), and Music Adventures (grades 4-7). Several jazz ensembles are part of the Crescent Jazz Workshop program. The ensembles include the Crescent Super Band (grades 10-12), the Impressions Vocal Jazz Choir (grades 9-12), the New VooDoo Swing Orchestra (grades 10-12), Salsiology: the Crescent Latin-Jazz Ensemble (grades 10-12), the Soul Research Foundation (grades 10-12), Saxified (grades 10-12), the Crescent Little Big Band (grades 7-9), the Crescent Swing Kids (grades 4-8), the Boppin' Vocal Jazz Ensemble (adults), and the Wasatch Big Band Experience (adults). Another music ensemble experience available at the school is the Garage Band Ensemble, which provides an authentic rock experience in rehearsal, performance, songwriting, recording, and the music industry. Players are grouped into bands by age and ability. Throughout the summer months, The Music School offers summer camps and workshops for all types of musicians. Specific camps include Utah Drum Camp (ages 12-18), Jam Camp (ages 14 & up), the Crescent Summer Jazz Workshop (ages 10-15), the Summer Vocal Theater Workshop (ages 12-18), and the Garage Band Intensive (ages 12-18).
