Our son has always brought MORE of everything; more energy, more intellectual curiosity, more anxiety, more defiance, more meltdowns, more exasperation, and more raised eyebrows from other parents. We were coming to our wits end, and he was only in Kindergarten! Thus began our Houston-wide tour of special schools including: Harris, Joy, Monarch, Parish, Focus, and a Montessori or two (all of which had impressive strengths and specialties). But the day we entered the New School in the Heights was the day we experienced new hope. We desperately needed a NEW school, with a new approach, new techniques, new guidance, and new results. Dr. Manning and her gifted faculty and staff have given us all these. At a recent holiday celebration, several relatives noted the marked progress of our son! Tuition isn't cheap, and the drive (for us) is a long one. But we look at it as the best investment we can presently make for our child who just requires . . . more. We are SO grateful for New School in the Heights.

This school is The Real Deal. Not only did my son receive a fine education there, he leaned so much about making friends, being a friend and becoming a boy that could go on to a typical school and be successful - and I am happy to report he is being successful in his typical school due to the superb staff at NMS. Dr Manning and Dr Farley are as good as it gets for child therapists in Houston. I wish we would have placed our son there years ago - it is a great school. If you have any doubts or concerns, go talk to the teachers and/or Dr Manning and Dr Farley - they're professional, brilliant and totally family focused.

I don't really understand the previous review, but my experience with The New School in the Heights has been wonderful for the past two years. The administrators and the teachers are professional and highly skilled in handling a wide variety of personalities, teaching styles and situations. I decided to put my child in the school after he had suffered from bullying and social difficulties in public school for several years. The New School in the Heights helped turn everything around for my child, whom I realize now does NOT have special needs and who is now on the honor roll. Because of the patience of the teaching staff, he is working on a grade level above the one he is in for a couple of subjects. This is the best decision I have ever made for him and so definitely recommend the school. I have never experienced any problems with attendance or administration issues, but I am aware that the school does have firm policies and working methods in-place.

If your student/child is displaying unacceptable behaviour at home, school and elsewhere - and your child is young enough to benefit- the school director, Dr. Diane Manning, and the clinical director, Dr. Arthur Farley, are highly competent professionals who will slowly but surely turn things around for you and your child... if you are willing to follow and stick with the program. The school's method works.

upsetting to know that your staff that yall call teachers do not inforce parents to bring the child everyday to school ,there should be a policy to go there if your not attending.it's all about the child,
