The Philadelphia Orchestra, one of the leading orchestras in the world, performs in Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, located on the corner of Broad and Spruce Streets in Center City.
Family Concerts throughout the year provide an exciting informal introduction to orchestral music. Each concert is approximately one hour, and is geared towards children ages six to twelve. Prior to each performance, families have the opportunity to participate in an activity designed to provide "behind the scenes" insights into the music, the musicians, and the magic of the concert. These free sessions are interactive, informative, and full of surprises! Concerts take place on Saturdays at 11:30am; visits the orchestra's website for more information.
Sound All Around, a series for the very youngest music lovers, ages three to five, introduces the sounds of the orchestra. Informally seated on the Academy of Music's Ballroom, children sit up close to the musicians who demonstrate their instruments and perform short pieces of music. The program is combined with engaging and dynamic performances by award-winning storyteller Charlotte Blake Alston. Suburban Sound All Around is held at The Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr, PA.
