The winner of our 2008 Parents' Picks quest to find the Best Toy Store for Little Kids in Salt Lake City, The Red Balloon Toy Store is a great locally owned and operated toy store, stocking plenty of cool toys for all ages and interests. The store is light on electronic games, and heavy on wooden toys and toys that encourage creativity, interaction, and thinking. Customers find a large selection of tub toys, fantasy play figures and castles, puzzles, craft projects for almost all ages, train sets, sandbox and gardening toys, board games, dolls, self-propelled vehicles, wagons, a small selection of books, and much more. Some brands the store carries are Melissa & Doug, Playmobil, Brio, Thomas the Tank Engine, Tomy, Chicco, Alex, ThinkFun, Papo, and Kid Galaxy. The store also carries the uber-popular Webkinz (when available).

The staff is very helpful. Shoppers can come in with a child's age and a price range, and the staff helps the customer find the perfect toy. Gift certificates and gift wrapping is available.

Parents and kids both appreciate the toys set up for "testing" throughout the store. Train sets and bead-runners keep little hands busy while parents shop.
