Yerba Buena Rooftop Playground353

in San Francisco, CA 94103

about Yerba Buena Rooftop Playground:

One of the best playgrounds in town is built on top of the underground Moscone Center and it looks nothing like what it's supposed to, which works to its advantage.

Instead of swing sets and rings, The Rooftop Playground has some elaborate slides that are as much fun climbing up as tunneling down. There is a fun climbing structure, a large xylophone, sand pits, and grassy lawns.

The rest of the playground is basically a huge rubber pit. The surface is so spongy and cool it makes kids feel they can leap tall buildings in a single bound - or at least as if they won't hurt themselves in the process of trying.

There is also a learning garden connected to the playground.

The playground is right next to the carousel, the ice-skating rink, bowling alley, and the high-tech Zeum arts center. The playground makes a great starting point for a day at Yerba Buena Gardens.

tips:

Great halfway point for getting together with friends who live in the East Bay since it's right next to the bridge.

getting there:

Between 3rd and 4th streets. Park in the garage at 5th and Mission. Or take Muni and get off at the Powell St Station, cross Market at 4th and walk down to Howard.
