About The Scratch Patch

The Scratch Patch is an interactive and educational gemstone treasure hunt, the first of its kind in the US. A large pit is filled with over 150 varieties of sparkling, smooth, tumbled gems.

Participants search among the stones to find their favorites, fill a bag and take them home. The fee includes the bag of stones - with no extra charge for weight or type of stone - and an identification chart. The stones are appropriate for use in plants, aquariums, gardens, mosaic art, and more.

The Scratch Patch also travels to outdoor events and offers kids' parties. Party prices start at $195; check the website for details.

What a beautiful place! When we were there, a grandfather sat on the bench while the kids stretched out on the polished stones. My daughter keeps her stones in a special dish at home.

My children had a blast! My youngest told me this was better than Disney World - it sure cost a lot less I thought:) The Scratch Patch moved to a bigger location, we visited them yesterday and the new place looks great. Over 2 tons of stones with new identification charts. The experience is just getting better over there. We loved the old location but it was small and sometimes crowded. There were plenty of people there but it did not feel crowded. My daughter absolutely loves this place, I wish they have season passes since I think we will be there often this summer. I recommend you visit them, the owners are really great people and it feels good to support a small business where they really care about the experience you have. You don't feel like just another customer - we love it!

My almost 4 and 7 year old boys thought this place was so cool! They kept filling their bags, then emptying them out again because they just couldn't decide on what to keep. Such a simple yet effective idea, I didn' imagine how much it would keep their attention, and the gentleman working there was very knowledgeable about the type of stones they picked out
