about The Shalom Institute:

Nestled in a beautiful wooded canyon in the Malibu Mountains, the Shalom Institute offers summer camps for children and nature-based Jewish experiences for families throughout the year.

The facilities include an Olympic-size swimming pool, two outdoor amphitheaters, a conference center, an archery field, a sports field, and a dining hall, as well as adventurous features like a ropes course, zip-lines, a climbing wall, rock climbing, and a rappelling center.

Miles of hiking trails, two waterfalls, and a nature center are also part of the compound.

getting there:

From PCH, Mulholland Hwy is 27 miles beyond the 10 freeway, just past Leo Carillo State Beach campgrounds. Turn right and go five miles to The Institute on the right side. From the Valley, use the Kanan Road exit off the 101 freeway. Turn left going south on Kanan and go six miles to Mulholland Hwy. Turn right onto Mulholland Hwy. After a mile the road forks - stay to the left onto Encinal Cyn Road. After another 3.5 miles, Encinal ends at Lechusa. Turn right onto Lechusa, which immediately ends at Decker Cyn. Rd (route 23). Turn right onto Decker for ¾ mile to Mulholland Hwy, then turn left onto Mulholland. The Institute is 2.5 miles farther down on the left side.
