about The Washington School of Ballet:

Students of almost all ages attend this prestigious academy, starting with creative movement for children ages four and up, and continuing through adult classes. For future professional dancers, graded classes are offered in classical technique, pointe, modern, adagio, pas de deux, and a boys class. The school programs run for a full school year, September through June, with auditions held in the summer.

Pre-Ballet, for students ages five and six, offers an introduction to ballet. After a year of Pre-Ballet, students progress into Pre-Elementary to begin learning the fundamentals of movements in ballet classes.

Graded classes are for seven to 16 year-olds interested in learning the fundamentals of dance. An interview and/or auditions are required for admission.

The Release-Time Program, for gifted students ages 13 to 18, pursues special arrangements with students' academic schools, enabling them to attend dance classes Monday through Friday to study classical technique, pointe, modern, pas de deux, and men's class. Placement is by audition.

The school also offers an intensive Summer Program, by audition, which runs for four or five weeks.
