Tiny Town is a unique, one-sixth-size town with more than 100 colorful buildings and a train ride powered by authentic steam locomotive, all nestled into a scenic mountain canyon 30 minutes outside of Denver. Tiny Town was created at the site of the Denver-Leadville stagecoach stop in a scenic mountain canyon southwest of Denver in 1915.
getting there:
From the intersection of C-470 and Highway 285 (Hampden), head south into the mountains on Hwy 285 for 6 miles. Exit at North Turkey Creek Road. Turn left (east) and go under Highway 285 and proceed to a stop sign and turn left on South Turkey Creek Road. Go approximately ½ mile and Tiny Town is on the left. There is another exit off of Highway 285 directly to South Turkey Creek Road but you must make a left turn from 285 and cross two lanes of traffic. This exit will also get you to Tiny Town in about ½ mile from the intersection of 285 and South Turkey Creek.

Hi everyone. I'm a grandmother now, but I have wonderful fond memories of Tiny Town from my childhood. My Grandpa Mac used to take me there all the time in the late 40s and early 50s. We always had a great time. I was so glad to discover that it is still there and thriving. I have told my family about it for a long time, but never had information to pass along to tell them about where it was. I was so little that I could not even tell them where it was from Denver. I will be going there again when I visit Colorado again in the near future. Great place then and from what I have read from others it still is.
I was looking for fun things to do in CO since I live in KS and my daughter and grandkids live in CO. I found this last year, but we were going in March. So this year I made sure to plan the trip for May when they were opened. It was about 1 1/2 hour drive from where my daughter lives but WELL worth it! We all had a great time. It was the day before Mother's day and we had to leave in the morning. My husband and hers thought it wasn't something they wanted to do, so just me and my daughter and grandkids (almost 4, 2 yrs 2 mo, and the littlest 9 months) took off to check it out. Other than the price of gas to get there it was a very inexpensive FUN day for all. The snack bar is a little pricey, and the gift shop, but that is to be expected at places like this. My granddaughter talked me into buying tickets for a 2nd train ride. ALL of the workers were so nice! The conductors, snack bar and gift shop and ticket booth employees. Just can't say enough good things about this awesome place. Going back to CO with my 2 grandsons that live here in KS and plan to take them all there again in July!
Awesome! We had the best time. My grandkids loved it and so did I and my daughter! We plan to go back next year! Some of the buildings could use a little TLC, but the kids don't care! I LOVE love love Tiny Town!
AWESOME! I live in KS and my daughter and grandkids live in CO. We visit at least twice a year and I was trying to find something fun for the kids -ages almost 4, and just turned 2, and the baby but he likes everything. I found it last year but we usually go in March and it's not opened. We went on opening day this year and It was the most fun day I have had in a long time! I was afraid I would be disappointed. It was about an 1 1/2 hour drive but well worth it! Papa and Daddy did not think it would be fun so we went without them. $13 for the five us to get in and $6 for all of us to ride the train. My granddaughter talked us into going on the train again (she didn't have to try too hard for that! lol) It was the day before Mother's day and my daughter admitted to me after we got back that she did not really want to go, but has told me several times since that it was so fun and she is so glad we went! It was the best Mother's day present I have had in years to spend it with my daughter and grandkids. We plan to go back in 2 years when my 9 month old grandson can enjoy it more. I took over 250 pics plus a video on the train ride and still did not get everything! LOVED IT! Plus the people were so nice, conductor, snack bar, gift shop everyone! Snack bar was a bit pricey I will admit, but I love this place!
I will always love tiny town. The setting in the mountains is perfect and cool. All the kids I've taken thier have always loved it. Even my 14 year old neice still enjoys visiting (when she's not haveing a teenage day). It is an affordable great time for all.
We went today with our 18 month olds, and their 5 and 7 year old cousins. The picnic areas were in a nice shady area, bathrooms were easily accessible, and best of all the price of admission was very easy on the pocketbook.
My 2 1/2 yr old Daughter loved the town, great playground, and had to ride BOTH the steam and diesel trains. FYI: you get a longer ride on the steam train. Good entertainment for the price. It's $5 for adults $2 for kids. $1 for the train. Wish it was closer for me. Nice picnic areas available.
As a mother of kids aged 10, 6, and 2 years old it really was a relaxing place to visit. I didn't have to worry about anyone wondering too far. They all loved the train, and the playground. As for the "tiny town" they all enjoyed posing for picures and going into the buildings they could fit into. After all was said and done we got ice cream cones and sat by the river...pretty much I look at it as a way to get the kids out and not have to deal with a lot of chaos!
