The beauty of this outfit is that it enables you to buy half price tickets the day of the show to one of the 300 or so Bay Area theater and dance companies it represents. You can also buy full-price tickets in advance of shows, and BASS tickets, Muni Fast Passes, maps, and one-, three-, and seven-day Passports for tourists. Expect to pay a small service charge on all sales. To find out which shows are available for half-price, you can either go down to the ticket booth itself, located on Union Square, or - far easier - visit the web site.
tips:
The service is closed Sundays and Mondays so if you want to see a show on either of those days, you'll have to buy the tickets Saturday.
getting there:
On Union Square between Post and Geary across from Maiden Lane. Take Muni to the Powell Street station and walk two blocks north on Powell. Or park in the Sutter-Stockton garage.
