WHOOSH! At
Chalet Toboggan Chutes in Mill Stream Run Reservation, shrieking kids (and their parents) can shoot down two 1,000-foot refrigerated ice chutes.
Yes, it's even more fun than it sounds. No, it's not dangerous. Yes, it is
very thrilling.
The Chalet is a great place to get a snack and "chill out" with the family, as there are two fireplaces, a large-screen TV, indoor restrooms, and a snack bar.
Tobogganing rules state that children
must be at least 42 inches tall to ride, and those
under 11 must be accompanied by an adult. (We think five is about right for a minimum age, but use your discretion. We did see some wee ones who were having a ball!) All riders must wear gloves or mittens. No outside food or drinks are permitted inside The Chalet.
Note: the toboggans are heavy; children under thirteen - or even older than thirteen! - may require adult help with carrying the sled up the large hill. Having a couple strong adults along to share the load makes it much, much easier!
