Inside a nondescript strip-mall lurks the best toy store in North Seattle. Top Ten Toys is easily missed amidst the clamor of the chain stores that surround it, but it shouldn't be.
The store offers high-quality toys for children of all ages. Goody bag doodads, craft kits, lots of art supplies, musical instruments, science sets, children's books, stuffed animals, Playmobil sets, baby toys...you name it, you can find it. The selection of imported sand toys and beach balls is especially nice, and a step above the cheap plastic found at bigger stores. You can find out-of-the-ordinary stuff here, and lots of it. This isn't the place to look for noisy or mass-market toys.
The staff are pleasant and laid-back - kids can play at the Brio and Thomas the Tank Engine play tables, or check out the merchandise, without being given the evil eye.

getting there:
I-5: Exit at Aurora Avenue N/N 85th Street (northbound) or N 80th/N 85th (southbound). Take 85th westbound 1.4 miles to intersection with Greenwood Avenue. Cross Greenwood, and turn right at 1st Avenue NW. Store is right next to Blockbusters, and across the street from Fred Meyer. Parking: Park in lot in front of store. Public transportation: Served by Metro routes 5,48, and 82.
