The
Torpedo Factory Art Center is the highlight of the City's revitalized Potomac River waterfront, where you can visit artists' studios, five cooperative galleries, the Target Gallery, and the
Alexandria Archaeology Museum, on the third floor.
You'll see two torpedos, too - the green one in the main hall was made in 1945, when the building really was a torpedo factory. The silver one was made elsewhere.
The school offers four quarters of
kids' classes (ages five and up) yearly, in introduction to art, art fundamentals (exploring texture, line, shape, and color), drawing, painting, cartooning, photography, and clay. Contact The Art League School at 703.683.2323 for further information.
Summer Camp is available for kids ages five to eight, eight to 11, and 12 and up, June through August.
