A highly reputable firm known mostly for the care with which it places nannies in homes, both live-in and live-out. It only accepts candidates who are experienced and come highly recommended, and it screens each one closely. The firm also claims an expertise in finding baby nurses, housekeepers, personal assistants, household managers, butlers, and chefs. It can also find temporary nannies for local families. Call 800.398.8810 to book a sitter at least 24 hours in advance of your outing. Babysitting rates run $16-$20/hour, with a four-hour minimum, and there is a fee if you cancel within 48 hours of your date. Town & Country's thorough service does not come cheap. It charges 15% of a full year's compensation for permanent childcare and household help, and 25% for baby nurses and 35% for temporary help. But the agency is responsive and responsible, and several people we've spoken with have been pleased with its services.

From Interstate 280: Go South on 280 and exit at Page Mill Road. At the bottom of the exit ramp, make a left turn on to Page Mill Road. Follow Page Mill down the hill and turn left on to El Camino. Turn right at the California Avenue signal. Go to the first stop sign and turn right onto Ash Street. Make the first right on Sherman Avenue. We are on the left side in the first block.From Highway 101: Go South on Highway 101. Take the Embarcadero/Oregon Expressway exit. Keep following the signs for Oregon Expressway. At El Camino turn right. Turn right at the California Avenue signal. Go to the first stop sign and turn right onto Ash Street. Make the first right on Sherman Avenue. We are on the left side.
