On the surface, this place is extremely charming. Being a lover of cartoons and children's memrobilia, I can sit and soak up the environment for a long time. What's more, the kids friendly old- fashioned mechanical pony and beautifully designed menus (with a few unique offereings) add to the atmosphere. But, that's where it ends. It's not as clean or well kept as it could be; I live in San Francisco, I can excuse less than pristine, but what really kills me is the bad music and attitudes that I've encountered as of late. The kids that are often employed seem far more pre-occupied with talking to each other than waiting on you and while some are truly polite, others can't be bothered to hide their annoyance or "emo" attitudes. At the very least, PLEASE, the punk/metal/rap music should stop. A place FILLED with children's toys and warm drawings of soup & sandwhiches don't fit with screaming metal or foul rhymes. I actually DO listen to such music myself, but when I go to the toy boat and pay too much for a slice of specialized pie or imported chocolate - I want to relax and feel happy. Is that too much to ask? C'mon, play more mainstream stuff - artists almost everyone likes. Are Ray Charles, Boy George, Madonna, Tracy Chapman, David Bowie, Patsie Klein, Jerry Lee Lewis, people like that not 'hip' enough to sip tea or coffee to for your workers?? Shoot, I'd dig hearing PeeWee Herman for that matter! "Tequila!" Or how about "Speed Racer", that would be fun! With all due respect, the place has great potential, why are you blown' it? It's not a record store or a punk/goth shop on Haight street. Pander to your audience and stop lettin' the kids run the place. Until then, I'll VERY sadly be taking my business elsewhere.

Great place to go in the morning for hot chocolate or after dinner for a treat. I met my husband there almost 20 years ago and now we bring our kids. Great family place.
