about Travellers Rest Plantation & Museum:

Travellers Rest Plantation & Museum recreates the 19th century estate of John Overton, one of Tennessee's earliest Supreme Court Justices, and focuses preserving and interpreting the history of Nashville up to the American Civil War. Visitors can tour the period house, which served as the Confederate headquarters on the eve of the Civil War Battle of Nashville. Ongoing tours focus on the life of Judge Overton and the role the house played during the Civil War. The museum also schedules special events and tours through out the year. The museum is closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Years Day, and the second week of January.
