about TriMet:

Known as a pedestrian and bike friendly city, Portland's public transportation system includes buses, MAX light rail, Portland Streetcars, and vintage trolleys. Fares and transfers are interchangeable on all rides. The metro area is divided into three zones and your fare is calculated by how many zones you will be traveling through. TriMet also offers several options for disabled passengers.

Fareless Square, bounded by the Willamette River, Northwest Irving Street, and I-405 is the best way to get a free ride on any city transportation vehicle. Recently TriMet expanded Fareless Square to include the Lloyd District just across the river from downtown.

Bring your bike on any bus, streetcar or MAX train, but children under 12 must ride with an adult. Bike lockers are available through the Bicycle Transportation Alliance. [503.226.0676]
