The TriBeCa Community School, an early childhood education and learning center, offers 3-hour-long morning and afternoon classes for children ages two to five years.
The school is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education and learning. Children are engaged in activities that are tailored to their natural curiosity about the world, using such tools as music, art, theatre, science, and the surrounding neighborhood. Programs are designed to cultivate students' cognitive, intellectual, and social skills through long-term projects that emphasize investigation, collaboration, and problem-solving.
Toilet training is not required pre-admission.
The school views parents as partners in the educational proces. In addition to sitting on several committees, parents are invited to attend several on-going parents' workshops throughout the school year. The center has an open door policy.
A four to eight week summer program is available, as well.
