This Italian/Cajun pizzeria (who'da thunk?...but it works!) does a booming business, and when you taste the pizza, you'll know why. The name stems from the fact that the geographical sources of the two cuisines (Italy & Louisiana) are both in the shape of a boot.
The 20 possible pizza toppings range from the ordinary (peppers, onions, mushrooms) to the extraordinary (crawfish, jalapenos, andouille sausage), the crust is thin and crispy, and the sauce is on the spicy side unless you specify mild (which many kids prefer). Ingredients are always fresh.
A favorite among kids is the
Pizza Face, an indiviual pizza made with mild sauce and decorated with a face made of veggies (easily removed by the veggie-intolerant). Several pizza combos named after such minor luminaries as Mel Cooley, Larry Tate, and Divine are also offered; some of these are based on a "white pie," i.e., pizza crust with ricotta and mozzarella but no tomato sauce.
The place is decorated as zanily as its close relatives,
Two Boots Restaurant,
Two Boots Pizzeria and
Two Boots To Go West, with festoons of garlic bulbs strung up from the ceiling and quirky stenciled designs on the walls, plus 50s-diner-style counters, tables, and chairs, all of which appeal to kids. You can eat in, take out, or order for free delivery.
The
delivery range is from (north) 10th Street to (south) Canal Street; from (west) 6th Ave to (east) 3rd Ave. Delivery orders only accepted until one hour before closing.
