about UCLA Hannah Carter Japanese Garden:

Deemed one of California's most authentic Japanese gardens, this botanical haven is found just a mile from the UCLA campus. Amidst the greenery, the Kyoto-style garden exhibits antique carvings, a garden house, bridges, and a shrine brought from Japan. Tours of the garden, which also includes a koi fish pond, are self-guided or docent-guided (upon request). Time in the garden is limited to 50 minutes due to parking restraints. Reservations are required and recommended for one week in advance of the day you plan to visit. All ages are invited to visit the gardens. However, parents should be aware that the terrain can be a bit tricky, so they should guide little ones carefully. Strollers are not permitted.

getting there:

Take the Sunset Blvd. exit off the 405 Freeway. Head east on Sunset, then north onto Stone Canyon Road, then slightly north again onto Bellagio Road. Reservations are required for parking.
