The 9.65-acre Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site is the locale where the eighteenth American president, Ulysses S. Grant, first met his future wife, Julia Dent; the site encompasses White Haven, Dent's family home, which later became the home of the married couple. Free interpretive tours of the family's Main House are offered daily every 30 minutes.
The site also includes several historic structures, including an icehouse and a chicken house, all restored to their 1875 appearances. The natural environment features several hundred trees and serves as home for wildlife such as raccoon, woodchuck, rabbit, squirrel, red fox, and an assortment of birds.
