About Union Oyster House

If walking the red line of the Freedom Trail leaves you hungry, head to the Union Oyster House for honest to goodness New England food. The Oyster House, established in 1826, is the oldest restaurant in Boston - and in the United States! The building has been designated as a National Historic Lanmark. It is also the place where the first toothpick was used. Imagine that!!! Adults will enjoy a fine assortment of oysters, shrimp, mussels, and the like. Chowder is a big favorite here, too. For kids under 12, the children's menu offers hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders, and other favorites. Seafood lovers will enjoy the fried fish fillet and fried clams. All meals come with fries, with prices ranging from $5-$10. If the kids would like to color while they wait for their meal they can ask their waiter for a coloring book. These do exist, but you have to ask. Because of its proximity to Faneuil Hall and the Faneuil Hall Marketplace this eatery is frequented by many tourists and may tend to get crowded during the summer months.
