This outrageously-designed
pedestrian-only street mall (next to
Universal Studios) has something for everyone: shopping, dining, street performers, movies, magic, thrill rides, and, a perennial favorite, an unpredictable
walk-through fountain.
Grab quick eats at a number of places (pizza, pretzels, fish tacos, ice cream) or sit for a meal at one of the many kid-friendly restaurants, including the
Hard Rock Cafe (coloring book and crayons, loud music, entertaining displays, and a roving digital photographer made a three year-old's visit quite memorable; the free photo was downloaded the following day and sent to admiring family members across the globe).
A host of toy and gift stores and the 18-screen
Universal City Cinemas (818.508.0588) and
IMAX theatre offer hours of entertainment.
Parking: $11 for general parking; Valet is available for $5 for 2 hours with restaurant validation, $2.50 each additional 1/2 hour up to $17.50; without validation, the fee is $5.50 for the first 2 hours, $2.50 for each additional 1/2 hour up to $17.50. Preferred parking costs $20.
