The winner of our 2008 Parents' Picks quest to find the best Day Camp for big kids in Denver, Science Discovery is a wonderful, experience-based program offered by the University of Colorado. Classes are offered year-round in areas including math, science, technology, art, physics, chemistry, and environmental studies. Class sizes are small (13-16 students) and are taught by enthusiastic and knowledgeable instructors, many of whom are CU professors and graduate students. All of the classes make use of CU facilities and resources such as the Fiske Planetarium. Science Discovery also offers an overnight wilderness summer camp program for older kids of outdoor learning adventures with activities including white-water rafting, rock climbing, mountain biking, camping, wolf ecology, geology, biology, archeology, astronomy, wilderness skills, and more. There is something there to challenge and entertain virtually any child. The program is well run and has been in existence since 1983. It's a great way to keep your kid's brain working over the summer holiday.
