The University of New Mexico is the only major university in Albuquerque. UNM offers a variety of programs and services to the community as well as to its students. The Pueblo-style main campus has a nationally recognized arboretum, outdoor art, and a duck pond - an ideal location for walks and picnics.

UNM is one of Albuquerque's cultural centers. Popejoy Hall's Ovation Series is packed with performances and plays, the UNM Bookstore has a good selection of Southwest literature and children's books, and the Saturday Children's Hour on KUNM is sure to keep everyone dancing.

UNM boasts several museums, including the UNM Art Museum, the Maxwell Museum of Anthropology, the Museum of Southwestern Biology, and the Geology Museum.

UNM's Recreational Services hosts several family outings through the Getaway Adventures program. The Balloon Festival, the Turkey Trot, and Bosque Del Apache are just a few of the adventures available for the whole family.

Johnson Center (includes Johnson Pool, a therapy pool, 3 gymnasiums, a high ropes course, a climbing wall, tennis courts, and much more) and Johnson Field host events, camps, leagues, and classes that are open to the public.

UNM sports are a major attraction. Lobo basketball games at The Pit and football games at University Stadium are a family affair.
