about USS Cod Submarine Museum:
The USS Cod, now a National Historic Landmark, sank more than a dozen Japanese ships during WWII. Preserved in its original configuration, visitors climb over equipment and through hatches, getting a unique perspective on history, as well as the mechanical workings (and living conditions) aboard a submarine. (Note: this tour is for nimble, able, and fairly narrow-bodied visitors.) One point of local interest to consider: Cod's massive engines were built on Cleveland's west side. Group tours can be arranged by calling 216.566.8770
tips:
Combine your Cod tour with a visit to the William G. Mather, both of which can be seen in about two hours. Then, walk up E. 9th Street, pick up a sandwich and a beverage from one of the street vendors, and explore the "FREE Stamp," at the corner of E. Ninth and St. Clair.
getting there:
About a block east of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. From the E. 9th Street pier, follow the brick sidewalk towards the airport, sighting the Cod's periscope.

We had a blast here, from grandpa to our three-year-old. The crew is VERY knowledgable. We think this is a "hidden gem" in Cleveland.
