about USS Hornet Museum:

The aircraft carrier USS Hornet participated in two of the greatest events of the 20th century - World War II and the Apollo 11 manned space mission.

Now peacefully moored at historic Alameda Point on San Francisco Bay, the USS Hornet serves as a memorial to those who defended American values and to those who have pursued America's technological advancements.

Birthday parties can be held aboard the carrier, at a fee of $28/person (!). The fee includes admission to the museum, a flight simulator ride, lunch in the Officers' Mess, and party favors for the kids. Call 510.521.8448, ex 228 to book or for more information.

All tours, whether self-guided or docent-led, involve climbing steep stairways, so comfortable clothing and shoes with nonskid soles are recommended.

Family Membership programs start at $75/year.
