About UW Waterfront Activities Center

Get to the Arboretum the fun way - by canoe! The University of Washington WAC rents canoes and rowboats to the public. Canoers can explore Union Bay, the Montlake Cut, Lake Washington, and the waterways and inlets at the Arboretum. The WAC is located directly behind Husky Stadium on Union Bay and the Montlake Cut. Renters must be 18 or older, with valid ID. The maximum number to a canoe is three, to a rowboat, four. No rentals from Nov-Jan. Children must be at least 25 pounds and walking to participate.

Getting There

From I-5: Take the NE 45th Street exit (#169) and head east on NE 45th. Continue east to 15th Avenue NE. Turn right. Head south approximately six blocks to NE Pacific Street. Turn left, staying in left-hand lane. Continue east to first left turn; the road make a Y at that traffic light. Turn left onto NE Pacific Place. Continue to Montlake Boulevard. Cross Montlake and enter in front of Husky Stadium. Parking: Numerous UW pay parking lots located along Montlake Boulevard.

    Very fun activity! Lots of cool places and fun animals to check out by water, right there at UW...I highly recommend it.
