For several decades,
Valley Beth Shalom has provided a place to worship, to study, and to celebrate Jewish traditions. Led by rabbis Harold M. Schulweis and Edward M. Feinstein, the congregation hews to the Conservative Jewish tradition while also embracing many progressive points of view regarding community and ethics.
The synagogue is home to the
Valley Beth Shalom Schools, which engage students in religious and secular studies.
In addition to its religious services held throughout the year,
VBS schedules holiday events, speakers, family concerts, weddings, bar mitzvahs, and more.
Community programs based at the synagogue include Havurot (groups of families that form a kind of club), the Sisterhood and Men's Club, and B'Yachad (an organization for teens with developmental disabilities and special needs).
Support services are also offered through a variety of programs, including the Counseling Center, the Response for Gays, Lesbians, & Their Families, and the Tzedakah Connection (to connect
VBS members to charitable organizations).
Membership dues are: Family $1,348, Starting Family (Under 34) $850.
Shabbat services are free and open to the public. Membership is not necessary to attend most events.
