about Verizon Center:

The Verizon Center offers not just sporting events, as the home of the Washington Wizards, Mystics, Capitals, and the Georgetown Hoyas Men's Basketball team, but also the big names in concerts and shows. In addition, the Wizards Summer Basketball Camps are often held here.

There are the usual concession stands and a couple of restaurants inside the arena, and the surrounding neighborhood is chock full of dining choices. The Verizon Center does not allow outside food to be brought in. This policy is relaxed to allow baby formula and/or baby food to be brought in with any babies attending events, but food and drinks for toddlers is decided on a case-by-case basis, so plan accordingly!

tips:

Metro is the easiest form of transportation to and from events. There are parking garages located at and around the arena that range in cost from $20-$25 for event parking.

getting there:

If you're not driving, use the Metro System and get off at Gallery Place Station on the Green/Yellow and Red Lines. The stop is underneath the Verizon Center with ample signage to direct incoming patrons. Bus lovers, note the Metrobus #70 goes north or southbound with a stop directly in front of the Verizon Center's entrances.
