Went to the Central Park Zoo (takes only an hour or two to get through the small but delightful zoo) and then stumbled upon this wonderful little Amusement Park geared towards younger children while looking for the Carousel. We stayed from 6pm-845pm on a hot, hot summer day this past weekend. The girls enjoyed this more than anything else during their trip to NYC. There were no lines, they could stay on the rides repeatedly. They must have rode 40+ times. I was told there are 11 rides but it might be a few more? See their site. There are height restrictions. The 6 yr old (not the brave type) went on every ride. The 3 yr old went on everything except the big slide, the swings, and this other ride where you lay on your stomach. I accompanied the 3 yr old on 3 or 4 of the rides because I wasn't comfortable letting her ride with her sister. They had a big misting fan that you could visit to cool down. The rides were very clean. I bought wristbands for the girls and a few individual tickets for myself. On many of the rides that I got on to accompany the little one, I don't think they would have required a ticket from me. Sometimes they would offer to let me go on. For directions, you need to just ask people when you get to the area and again, ask for directions on how to exit the park. I went out towards 59th. If you head west, they have carriage rides and pedi-cabs lined up along Central Park South. If you have little ones, definitely go. I think even 12 yr olds would enjoy but its really the little ones that would get more out of it. Can always pay admission to get in, look around the rides and then determine if you want to buy the wristband or individual tickets. You can buy tickets once inside the park. Double check if you can buy wristbands once inside the park (and that you don't have to decide on wristbands at the ticket booth).

We took our kids, age 4 and 6, to VG's this weekend. From the second we got there (at noon) til the time we left (at 4) the kids were having an absolute blast. The kids really loved the big slide, the bumpy cars and the family boat thing. When we left, they said "when do we get to go again". I highly recommend checking it out. Plus the park is pretty with flowers and manicured lawns, the rides are new and clean and the staff is extremely friendly. The only negative is the food is pricey.

victorian gardens is one of the best place for kids i wouldnt recomend so much for teenagers but for the smaller ones they realy enjoyed it lines are not long and the price is good. the cafe is the only thing i found a bit expensive
