The Viejas Outlet Center may be a bit of drive out I8, but is worth it. The outlet center is located just past Alpine, on the Viejas Indian reservation, adjacent to the casino. Architecturally, it is gorgeous and heavily influenced by Native American design. Indian music and running water create a tranquil atmosphere. Consider the drive just to see and experience the center. In terms of shopping, many predictable stores are there including Nike, Osh Kosh B'Gosh, Samonsite, and Liz Claiborne. At certain times of the year - especially between seasons - there can be some good deals. For an outlet center, Viejas is remarkably family-friendly and regularly holds events of note. One notable show is The Spirit of Nightfire, that effectively uses lights and water, smoke, fire and fireworks while expressing Native American culture. During the summer, concerts are held in the courtyard, premiering significant artists.
