Vincent Lugo Park is more commonly known to locals as the Monster Park.

During the 1960s, Benjamin Dominguez, a local Mexican artist, created a unique play area in the park officially known as La Laguna de San Gabriel Nautical Dinosaur Playground. Families who have grown up using this facility renamed it the Monster Park for its array of dinosaurs and sea monster that seemingly arise out of the sand, ready for climbing and playing adventures.

The park's other facilities include picnic shelters, tables, barbecues, restrooms, and a lighted youth baseball diamond. There are also more traditional play areas: a tiny tot playground (six years and younger), a children?s playground (seven years and older), and a Girl Scout House. Picnic areas are available for parties by reservation.
