Built in 1916 as the winter home for James Deering, son of the founder of International Harvester Machines of Chicago, this house and its gardens are truly beautiful. Said to be more extravagant than his older brother, Charles, James shopped throughout Europe for treasures to fill his palace, and to select the architectural style. The Miami home of
Charles demonstrates the style differences of the brothers.

Volunteer tour guides offer ongoing museum tours, or you can purchase a tour book from the ticket booth.
