about Volunteer Park:

Located in Capitol Hill, Volunteer Park is home to the Volunteer Park Conservatory and the Seattle Asian Art Museum.

Park amenities include a children's play area, trails and paths, picnic tables, tennis courts, wading pool, and band stand. It also offers panoramic Puget Sound, mountain and downtown views, particularly from the top of the water tower.

The Volunteer Park Conservatory features five indoor botanical exhibits: the Bromeliad House (tropical plants and flowers), the Palm House, the Fern House, the Cactus House, and the Seasonal Display House. Call 206.684.4743 for information. Regular hours are 10am-4pm daily. In summer (Memorial Day to Labor Day), the Conservatory is open until 7pm. Admission is free.

getting there:

From I-5 Northbound: Exit E Olive Way (#166). Bear right on E Olive Way, which merges into E John Street. E John comes to a T at 15th Avenue E. Turn left onto 15th Avenue E. After about 0.75 miles, the entrance to Volunteer Park will be on your left. From I-5 Southbound: Exit Boylston Avenue/Roanoke Street (#168A). Turn left onto E Roanoke Street. Cross I-5 and merge into the right lane. Turn right onto 10th Avenue E. Turn left onto E Boston Street. E Boston becomes 15th Avenue E. The entrance to Volunteer Park will be on your left (approx 0.5 miles from 10th Avenue E). Public transportation: Served by Metro routes 10 and 12. Parking: Free.
