The children's section of the Walnut Street West Library is located in the back of library, on the second floor. A mural depicting scenes of Philadelphia surrounds the children's room, and the branch has a fairly large selection of picture books, including books in Chinese, Vietnamese, Spanish, Arabic, and Korean. Storytimes are offered on some Tuesdays; call the branch for a schedule.
All Free Library of Philadelphia branches offer a LEAP After School Program, which provides homework assistance, computer literacy, library skills, and enrichment activities for school-age children and teens (grades one through 12). Call the branch for details. Every branch also provides two preschool computers with educational games and activities.
