The Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, with its six gold spires, is a well-known landmark along the Capital Beltway in Kensington, Maryland. Sharing the 52-acre wooded site are the Washington DC Stake Center and the Washington DC Temple Visitors' Center, which offers film presentations and interactive exhibits which explain the purpose of the temple and describe its interior. Informed guides are also available for free tours beginning in the lobby with its dominating marble reproduction of the Christus statue. Near Christmas, the grounds are set aglow during the Festival of Lights, which offers nightly concerts, a live nativity scene, and international nativity sets.
