Note: The Improv is not currently offering its Youth Classes, but is planning on doing so in the future.
After years of leading Washington's premier improv training program for adults, Washington Improv Theater (WIT) now offers Youth Improv Classes for kids (ages 8-12) and teens (ages 13-17). WIT's classes are fun for everyone: all the young budding thespians and drama queens will love taking their craft to the next level by learning the art of improv; but equally importantly, those who have no previous interest or experience in theater will also enjoy WIT's improv classes, because they're just that fun.
Through a variety of fun games, exploratory exercises, and dramatic play, students tap into their natural creativity, build their self-confidence, improve their communication skills and learn to work collaboratively - all while having such a great time that they'll never suspect how much they're learning! All of WIT's youth students have the chance to showcase their new abilities during a performance for friends and family at the end of the last class.
Visit WIT's website for full class descriptions, teachers' bios and testimonials, plus a current schedule. Classes are usually held at the Children's Studio School at 1301 V St NW, on the corner of 13th and V Street NW. The school is located one block north of the U Street-Cardozo Metro Station (13th Street Exit), and the main entrance is on V Street.
