about Washington State Ferries:

The Washington State Ferry System operates 13 routes. Four of them leave from the Colman Ferry Dock in downtown Seattle and serve Bremerton and Bainbridge Island, and two of them depart from the Fauntleroy Dock in West Seattle. The rest operate from points far to the north and serve the San Juan Islands.

A trip from Seattle to Bremerton or Bainbridge Island offers really terrific views of the city, Mt. Rainier, the Olympic Mountains, and lots of bottle-green water. Decks are spacious; some of the ferries have heated outdoor seating. Inside, the ferry cafeterias serve reasonably decent food at reasonably decent prices. This is a kid-friendly outing that locals love, too: the bustle of departure is exciting, there's plenty of room to run around, and lots of booths inside with large tables for eating or coloring. The Bainbridge Island run is only 35 minutes, making it the shorter of the two.

The Colman Ferry Dock is located along Seattle's waterfront, south of the Seattle Aquarium. Be prepared to wait if you drive on; arriving early is a good idea.

Fares vary , depending on route and time of year. The ferry system's website offers fare information, ferry cams, and current schedules. For schedule information by phone, call the local number above or the statewide toll free number. [1.888.808.7977]
