Waterfront Park, which lies along the west bank of the Willamette River, is the pulse of the city - and ideal for
strolling and biking. The greenspace that stretches from Riverplace Hotel to the Steel Bridge is an excellent place to see ships, shops, and shows.
Meander along the promenade, past sister-city cherry trees, under bridges, and, oftentimes, through local celebrations. Stop at the
Salmon Street Springs (where Salmon Street meets the waterfront) to cool off in the summer heat, play in the children's
Story Garden on the south side of the Burnside Bridge, or just sit back on any comfortable bench and watch the day go by. When you've grown tired of the view, stroll across the Hawthorne or Steel bridge for a walk on the
Eastbank Esplanade.
During the warmer months, look forward to crowds gathering for
concerts, benefits and festivals. The most popular of these is June's Rose Festival.
